Fish Weight Calculation Input Form

To estimate the weight of your fish, you need to know its general shape, length and girth. Obviously, the formula used herein will not return the exact weight of the fish, however the answer will be a close estimate.

Start off by selecting the fish, either by species or by general shape. (If you make no selection, we'll assume it's a normal shaped fish).

Freshwater Species

Trout or Salmon
Largemouth or Smallmouth Bass
Walleye
Pickerel, Pike or Musky
Perch or other Panfish

Saltwater Species

Striped Bass
Bluefish or Weakfish (seatrout)
Albacore, Bonito or other tunas
Barracuda

Fish not listed? If its shape is normal or oval, like a trout, bass, tuna, etc., select the radio button captioned "Normal shape". If the shape is elongated or cylindrical like a pickerel, pike or a barracuda, select the radio button captioned "Cylindrical shape".

Now, enter the length of the fish in inches. For fractions of an inch, use the decimal equivalent (e.g. For a  14 1/2  inch fish, you would enter 14.5).

Length:

Lastly, enter the girth of the fish in inches. For fractions of an inch, use the decimal equivalent. (If you don't know the girth and your fish is normal/oval shaped, we'll calculate the weight based on general tables. If the fish is cylindrical shaped, you're out of luck.)
